Probabilistic Risk Assessment of Soil Slope Stability Subjected to Water Drawdown by Finite Element Limit Analysis

This study investigates the probabilistic stability of embankment slopes subjected to water level drawdown using random field finite element method (RFEM) with strength reduction technology. The shear soil properties was controlled by cohesion and internal friction angle for slope failure. were modeled a following log-normal distribution. factor safety (FOS) is calculated During numerical simulation, limit analysis upper bound lower are applied method, respectively, obtain value FOS. Seepage action also considered during setting five different levels (WLs). A total 1000 Monte Carlo simulations performed each work condition, resulting in histograms FOSs. results show that FOSs obtained model all than those deterministic method. Even if two methods close, there still exists possibility Compared results, RFEM more reasonable evaluating stability.
